target ps5 is an American big box department store chain headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the seventh largest retailer in the United States.
Target has become a $100 billion company during the global health crisis. The pandemic has highlighted investments the company made over the past several years, from sprucing up the look of stores to turning them into fulfilment hubs for online orders.
Target PS5
Target has another round of PS5 orders opening up this morning for the standard $499.99 disc drive-equipped PlayStation 5. The listing has once again gone live on Target’s website, which indicates that availability should be opening up about now. Target only does store pick-up orders through its website and mobile app for these consoles, so in addition to testing your reflexes on that Add to Cart button you also have to hope that your nearby stores are the ones graced with plentiful stock.
A massive new restock of the PlayStation 5 is said to be taking place this week at retail storefront Target. This marks the first time that Target will have sold new PS5 units in 2022 after previously holding multiple sales over the course of the holiday season. And while one would think that retail chains might need to replenish their stock after such a busy past couple of months, this new restock at Target is said to be much bigger than many sales that we’ve seen in the past.
The main reason why this restock of the PS5
seemed to go south for some was because of the Target website. Although some customers didn’t report any issues when buying their own PS5, others said that the site either crashed, froze, or simply wouldn’t acknowledge that they had even added the console to their cart. This is something that has unfortunately become common with many of these PS5 restocks at Target.
Unfortunately, another big reason for the shortage of PS5 consoles are scalpers. These opportunistic people use bots to scan retailers for PS5 stock when it becomes available and buy as many of the consoles as they can at once. When they have these highly-demanded console, they then sell them for prices that are through the roof, sometimes even for thousands of dollars. Business Insider reported that one such scalper got hold of 200 PS5 consoles and was able to sell them for more than $40,000.
While it is not illegal, it is not very ethical as well. But after the covid-19 pandemic, people staying more at home make them desperate to get their hands on a new console to keep them entertained. Avoid buying from any such resellers, fake or otherwise. At $499 the PS5 is still quite an expensive console and it currently doesn’t have a huge library of games. But, at the end of this year, you’re likely to have a lot more PS5 games to choose from and Sony should have more consoles available.
Target PS5 restock dates have been hard to nail down
That’s because the retailer tends to drop inventory in certain regions. For instance, someone in Chicago could see PS5 inventory at their local store, whereas a New Yorker might not see any inventory whatsoever. In addition, Target tends to do early morning restocks that occur around 8 a.m. ET. That said, their last restock sold out in minutes.
Recently though, Target has confirmed a massive change to the way it handles restocks. There will be no longer restock events before you can buy a console. But it would be available online from shops near you if they do have enough stocks. Target will allow individual stores to sell PS5 once they receive inventory. Before this change, Target would hold restock events bimonthly or once a month. It had to wait to build up enough inventory so it could sale them all at once. But it will now allow stores to sell PS5 regularly as long as they have them.
Another big change is that PS5 will now also be available in stores physically instead of just online. But it would not mean you can go into any shop. And expect a console sitting for you to buy them. The demand for these products is way too much than the supply. So, your best chance of getting your hands. On one of them is to reserve your order for in-store collection and then. Buy from that store once it arrives there.
